Story

In 2009, “Y by YOSHIKI” was born between renowned Japanese artist YOSHIKI and Napa Valley winemaker and 4th generation vintner, Rob Mondavi Jr. The grapes are sourced from premium vineyards across California and express the artistry, quality and creativity of this unique partnership. This California series is described by YOSHIKI as “smart casual” that is not only for wine lovers but also fits in with your everyday lifestyle.

Y by YOSHIKI California Chardonnay 2018 sold out immediately upon release, which led to another release of the same vintage and appropriately named “Encore”. Because of its popularity, Yoshiki has decided to continue the “Encore” Chardonnay brand for wine lovers to enjoy for many years to come.

The Growing Season

2021 marked another year of the drought in the Western United states. However, grapevines have very deep roots and access the water they need deep within the earth. While the crop was small, the quality was exceptional and we have yet another wonderful year for making wine in California.

The Winemaking Process

After night harvest, we gently whole-cluster press our Chardonnay grapes and put the free run juice in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The primary fermentation is cold, and slow, to preserve the wonderful aromatics of the wine. The wines are then barrel and tank aged to proved maximum mouth feel, freshness and smooth character.

Wine

Vibrant pale gold in color, with delicate aromas of Bartlett pear, Envy apple and nectarines. On the palate, the mouth is medium bodied with layers of white peach, toasted hazelnuts, vanilla young mango. The wine finishes gracefully and invites you back for another glass.
